Religious School

GSJC provides religious education for students from Kindergarten through b’nai mitzvah. We strive to give our students an appreciation of their Jewish heritage, familiarity and comfortability with the prayer service and instill Jewish values for lifelong commitment to the practice of Judaism.

Grades Kindergarten – 7th grade include B’Nai Mitzvah studies, both one-on-one and group instruction of Hebrew and Jewish education. The schedule consists of a once a week class with an experienced educator, Helene Shapiro, and monthly Saturday morning Shabbat service with Rabbi Alana Wasserman.  They study  holidays, Jewish culture and social action, integrating Hebrew into these lessons. Grades 4 and up also study Hebrew and the Parasha.  The school year is from September to May.

Please note: GSJC will accept non-member children in our religious school.  Cost is $700 for the school year children of non-members. ($500 for children of members).  The family must join the synagogue by the time the child reaches third grade.

For more information and to enroll, contact the Religious School Director education@gsjc.org or call (860) 276-9113.  Deadline is Beginning of September.
